Taeyang, a soloist as well as a member of the Big Bang group, was appointed Givenchy’s brand ambassador. This French fashion house announced it through their social media.
“Givenchy is pleased to announce Taeyang’s appointment as global ambassador for 2023,” the brand wrote on Twitter.
Taeyang is the first South Korean artist lined up to be a brand ambassador. Givenchy creative director Matthew Williams said Taeyang is an artist who is creating buzz through his music and style.
“Taeyang is an inspiring artist, an authentic music pioneer and breaking barriers in expressing his personal style, perfectly suited to Givenchy’s current aesthetic,” Williams said in a statement to WWD.
Taeyang also admitted that he was grateful to start a new step in his life with this brand. For the ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’ singer, the brand has inspired her in many ways over the years.
“Matthew has also been a leader in both fashion and culture for many years. I look forward to an interesting collaboration with Givenchy through this partnership,” said Taeyang.
Taeyang officially debuted as an idol in 2006 with the group Big Bang. Recently he released the single ‘Vibe’ in collaboration with Jimin BTS.
The appointment of Taeyang as Givenchy’s brand ambassador adds to the list of South Korean idols lined up to become international brand ambassadors.
Previously, Jimin BTS was appointed as Dior’s brand ambassador, then Suga was partnered with Valentino to become DiVA, as the brand’s brand ambassador.
