Bling Empire: 10 times Tina Leung brought It-girl style to New York

The streets of New York are certainly not short of style, populated as it is with models and celebrities like Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Bieber and both Olsen twins. Standing out in the city, then, is real feat—and one that Tina Leung has achieved through her eclectic taste in fashion.

As she no doubt demonstrates in the new Netflix reality series, Bling Empire: New York, Leung has an eye for what’s cool and the ability to put a fresh twist on current fashion trends. Those qualities are the mark of an It-girl, a title that Leung rightfully deserves after having made a name for herself as a fashion stylist and blogger over the past decade.

While she frequently flits between other cities like Hong Kong, where she grew up, as well as Paris, Milan and London for Fashion Week, Leung’s colourful and daring street style fits right in with the energy of New York, the American fashion capital where she has studied, lived and worked for years. To make our case, we spotlight some of the Bling Empire star’s coolest outfits in the city below.

ABOVE Heading to Marc Jacobs’ The Perfect Party at Hotel Chelsea, Leung showed her love for the New York designer wearing a look from his standout fall/winter 2022 collection. Leung chose the bleached and distressed denim jacket in periwinkle—a hue that nicely complemented her pastel-green-dyed hair, while contrasting her all-white ensemble underneath. ABOVE On a night out at The Palace in Tribeca, Leung amped up the glamour in a Des Phemmes dress covered with sequins and feathers. It featured a daring slit, which Leung expertly made use of to show off her white knee-high boots. Leung’s Self Portrait diamanté Bow Bag provided a girly touch while emphasising her support of Asian designers. (Photo: Getty Images)
ABOVE At the opening of the ‘Thierry Mugler: Couturissime’ exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, Leung sported a Mugler cutout catsuit designed by Casey Cadwallader, which has been seen on everyone from Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid to Billie Eilish. Leung made the look her own by pairing it with a long, black leather coat that seemed to come out of ‘The Matrix’. (Photo: Getty Images)
ABOVE Fully on board with Vietnamese-American designer Peter Do’s vision of modern minimalism, Leung sported one of Do’s oversized coats with ease. The piece was layered over matching grey trousers and a black sports bra, which added an athleisure-inspired twist to the otherwise corporate outfit. (Photo: Getty Images)
