The Apple Watch Ultra is one of the most capable smartwatches in the world today.
The watch has a number of features that set it apart from its competitors, such as water resistance to a depth of 100 meters and a battery life of up to 60 hours. Apart from that, the Apple Watch Ultra has also adopted a microLED screen.
Even so, Apple’s move to upgrade the Apple Watch Ultra’s OLED panel to a microLED panel will likely be delayed until 2025. Apple supply chain analyst Ross Young said the news in a tweet on Tuesday (7/2/2023).
“Apple will likely delay the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra with a microLED panel in 2025,” Young tweeted.
According to Gizmochina, the delay is believed to be due to Apple’s focus on upcoming VR/AR headsets. As is known, the technology giant based in Cupertino, United States has put a lot of hope in its headset.
Previously, a report said that Apple would market its smartwatch with a microLED panel next year.
Meanwhile, the switch to microLED technology is expected to bring several benefits, such as increased power efficiency and durability, which are important selling points for the Apple Watch Ultra.
There have also been rumors of slightly larger microLED panels, which could appeal to more athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, the target audience for wearables.
Apart from that, Apple also plans to launch the iPad Pro with an OLED screen next year.
